What clients say
“The trip was long but the car was of excellent quality (a BMW 7 series). I had to change cars at the border between UAE and KSA where I had to take a taxi between the border controls, however, the 2nd car was already waiting for me on the other side of the border and the handover was very smooth, including luggage transfer.”
Route guide
Jeddah to Al Khobar is a cross-country drive from the Red Sea to the Gulf, about 1,300 km. It is often booked by people relocating to Khobar or Dhahran, by families returning east after time in Jeddah, and by travellers who simply want to see the country from the road. There is no border and no change of car, and the trip is easily split with a night in Riyadh.
Travel time & distance
Duration
~12–13 hours
Distance
~1,300 km
Expect 12 to 13 hours of driving. Breaking the trip in Riyadh, past the halfway point, is the usual choice. In one day, leave Jeddah early, plan regular stops, and expect to reach Khobar at night.
Given the distance, we normally recommend two days with an overnight stop in Riyadh, which makes the drive far more relaxed. A single continuous transfer is also possible if you would rather arrive the same day.
Planning the stopover in Riyadh
Riyadh sits past the halfway mark on the way east, so day two is the shorter one. Pick a hotel close to the main highway to save time getting in and out of the city. Tell us where you are staying and when you would like to leave in the morning, and we will set the timings for both days.
Arriving in Khobar
- Share any compound gate details for Dhahran in advance, especially for a late arrival
- Arriving late is common on a one-day trip, so keep the evening free
- Keep keys, documents and overnight essentials in a cabin bag rather than the boot
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick‑up if moving dates shift
