What clients say
“The trip was long but the car was of excellent quality (a BMW 7 series). I had to change cars at the border between UAE and KSA where I had to take a taxi between the border controls, however, the 2nd car was already waiting for me on the other side of the border and the handover was very smooth, including luggage transfer.”
Route guide
Leaving Riyadh for Jeddah, you drive west across the kingdom and finish on the Red Sea coast. No border, no change of car, and about 950 km of highway. Riyadh residents book it for summer breaks by the sea, family visits and moves with more luggage than a plane allows. Business travellers sometimes use it to arrive with a car-load of samples or equipment they'd rather not check in.
Travel time & distance
Duration
~9–10 hours
Distance
~950 km
Plan on 9 to 10 hours. Riyadh rush hour on the way out, rest stops along the highway and Jeddah traffic at the end all play a part. A very early start avoids the Riyadh peak and gets you to Jeddah by late afternoon.
Best time to leave Riyadh
Summer days are long and hot, so many travellers set off early and get the bulk of the drive done before the afternoon heat peaks. In the cooler months, any departure time works. Around Ramadan and Eid, traffic towards Jeddah and Makkah picks up noticeably, so book early, allow extra time and let us know if you'd like to stop for iftar on the way.
Who books Riyadh to Jeddah

- Travellers combining a stay in Jeddah with umrah
- Professionals relocating between offices in the two cities
- Groups who would otherwise need several flight tickets and taxis at each end
- Anyone carrying bulky items like bikes, prams or work equipment
