    Route guide

Kuwait to Al Khobar runs south along the Gulf coast, about 450 km and 6 to 7 hours. It is a regular trip for Kuwaiti families heading to Khobar for a break by the sea, and for people working in Dhahran and the wider Eastern Province. A Kuwaiti driver collects you and drives to Nuwaiseeb. You clear both border posts, then a Saudi driver meets you at the agreed handover point and takes you on to your address in Khobar.

    Travel time & distance

    Duration

    ~6–7 hours

    Distance

    ~450 km

The trip takes 6 to 7 hours. Leaving Kuwait City at peak times and the Saudi entry checks are the main variables. Southbound traffic is heavier at the start of Kuwaiti holidays, so leave early on those days.

    Family trips to Khobar

For families, the drive beats flying in practical terms: no check-in, room for your luggage within the vehicle's capacity and no transfer from DMM at the far end. Half Moon Bay and the Corniche are easy weekend bases. Book an SUV or van for space, ask for free child seats, and let us know about any stops you would like along the coast.

    Border crossing process

    Nuwaiseeb / Al Khafji

This route involves a coordinated border crossing between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The process is straightforward, but passengers are required to exit the vehicle and complete immigration and customs procedures in person. We organise both vehicles on either side of the border to ensure a smooth transition.

    1. 1Arrive at the Kuwait exit checkpoint at Nuwaiseeb - passports stamped out
    2. 2Cross the border zone to the Saudi entry checkpoint at Al Khafji
    3. 3Saudi visa and vehicle documentation processed
    4. 4Customs inspection and clearance
    5. 5Continue on Saudi highways to Al Khobar

A second vehicle with a fresh driver will be waiting after the border to continue your journey. The entire process is coordinated in advance to minimise waiting times and ensure a seamless experience.

    Saudi entry at Al Khafji

Your Kuwaiti driver drops you at the Nuwaiseeb exit post. You take your luggage, get stamped out, and continue to the Saudi post at Al Khafji. Saudi immigration checks your passport and visa, and customs may look at your bags. Your Saudi driver meets you once you are through and covers the rest of the drive south to Khobar.

From Kuwait to your Khobar address

We collect from Kuwait City, Salmiya, Hawalli, Mishref and KWI. In Saudi Arabia we drop off at any address in Al Khobar, including Al Thuqbah, Al Aqrabiyah, the Corniche and Half Moon Bay, or in neighbouring Dhahran.
